Linda Pollhemus, Owner of Window Treatments by Design
I have always had a passion for creating beautiful things with fabrics. My early focus was on apparel, and I earned a B.S. in Home Economics Education. After seven years in corporate America, I could not ignore my increasing desire to work with fabrics on a larger scale. In 1991, I created a part time business “Linda’s Custom Sewing” in response to growing requests from clients needing help designing and constructing unique window coverings for their homes.
To grow my business, I completed the Window Fashions certification program and became a certified professional. In 2000, “Custom Sewing Innovations LLC” was formed. This allowed me to offer complete window treatment and home décor services, including blinds, shades, shutters, draperies, valances, Roman shades, bedding, pillows, and upholstery.
Our main focus has always been window coverings. So to more accurately represent our company, I changed our name to “Window Treatments by Design” in 2015.
Window Treatments by Design has an onsite workroom. We invite our clients to visit to our design studio where they will see their custom coverings come to life. We carry the newest fabrics available in a wide variety of colors and patterns, as well as trimmings and hardware.
As trained and certified dealers for Hunter Douglas, Norman, Comfortex and Oxford house, our hard treatment suppliers, our clients benefit from our experience in finding the ideal blinds, shades & shutters for their needs.
Our in home consultations enable us to create a custom look for each project that is unique to you. Attention to details, careful measuring and planning help guarantee perfect installations.
It is important to me that Window Treatments by Design keeps up with the newest trends in window coverings. This allows us to give our clients a large array of choices at a price point that will fit their budget. Window Treatments by Design supports local charities by creating and donating unique items, such as pillows, blankets and window treatments for various social services agencies, fund raising events and Women & Children’s shelters.
As the owner, I feel that I have an environmental responsibility to recycle everything possible from the waste created from our business. All shipment boxes and materials are recycled; unused fabrics are either recycled or donated to church quilters. Outdated sample books are given to various schools for use in art education. I believe you should be able to see a healthy planet through the beautiful windows that we’ve designed for you.
